Sleepykins// A Colorful Shared Space for Eva & Elsie

By Leslie Schor, Senior Fashion Editor 1 Comment

Guest post by Rachel Fox Kipphut.

We have recently moved into a new home, and it was a priority for me to get the girl’s room done first. Eva (age 3) has a love of books, dancing, art, plants, and playing dress up. Eva also happens to have Down Syndrome. She attends pre-school full time as well as dance class. The days can be tiring for her, so she looks forward to coming home to her room to read, play, and more importantly, decompress from her day. It is important to me that Eva has a space in which she could do this but also share the fun with one of her best friends, her sister Elsie (age 2). When designing a room, my first stop is usually Ikea, then Target, and then the thrift store. I like to finish the rooms off with plants and some handmade items from small businesses and artisans. What is special to me about this room, specifically, is that a lot of the decor has been hand crafted by some incredible friends with shops, that I met through Instagram. It was also my first encounter with Babiekins Magazine, which continues to inspire me daily.

Sleepykins//A Shared Space in France

When I came across Nathalène Bourgoin’s feed on Instagram, I knew that I had to feature her in some way on our blog. Her everyday moments look so effortlessly chic. Unlike the usual feeds we see where everything looks staged and curated, this feed just felt real and collected, but still insanely stylish. I love the shared space she created for her to little babiekins. The space offers a vintage feel while still feeling current. And can we talk about that doll stroller she made using a Bobo Choses tote?!?!!?

Copyright © 2022 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
