As winter draws to an end on the Australian coast, we find ourselves inevitably drawn to the sand and ocean. Soaking in the rays of the sun like lazy cats perched in the sand. Kicking off the winter boots and layers to dip our feet and wade in the salty sea. When we wake it is the first thing that comes to mind as the plan for the day. I pack a basket with a snack, a water bottle, a few animal toys and away we go.
The beach is the most open-ended activity park. Everything can be climbed or dug under. Shells and seaweed are used to make homes for the animals and we pass the hours playing and laughing and filling our tanks with a taste of the spring and summer months just around the bend.
