Momkins // Nena & Co : Convertible Day Bag

By Priscila Barros, Editor-in-Chief 2 Comments

We have been longtime fans of Nena & Co. , a hand loomed, one-of-a-kind ethical fashion bag (they have amazing accessories too) company. Made in Guatemala by local woman of all ages.

Not only are they beautiful, we love that each bag tells it’s own story. Their convertible day bag is the perfect out with the kiddos bag and a perfect hang with your girlfriends bag. It could easily be transformed into a chic diaper bag as well!

You can carry it like a bag or slip it on like a backpack. We have used it like a backpack many time when we needed our hands for things like our camera (we had to document our girls weekend getaway), holding our little ones hands across the street and to carry in groceries! Lifesaver for sure

Best of all, your purchase will enable Nena & Co to make a difference in the lives of woman and families in Guatemala. From providing purified filtered water or a scholarship to help Guatemalan artisans receive a better education, your purchase will change the lives of many!

You can get a closer look at Nena & Co.’s mission on their blog “Peace Pilgrim”. Check it out to see the difference you  can make together!

Fashionkins// Hip in the Hamptons

By Leslie Schor, Senior Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

Summertime in the Hamptons doesn’t have to be all about polo shirts and cable knit sweaters (although it can be if you like). Our family has been lucky to spend the summer here for seasonal work and we’ve had a blast exploring all of the towns and villages. I love the aesthetic of the Hamptons- country, beach and modern industrial all blended so tastefully. Straw hats, caftans in neutral tones and gladiator sandals tend to be the go-to outfits for the mamas. Montauk has a little more of a colorful boho vibe, but still maintains that quintessential Hamptons’ vibe- relaxed but chic. As far as kids’ fashion in the Hamptons, it’s all about comfort! Popular brands on the East End include Pink Chicken and Ralph Lauren. In this fashion story, my daughter, Elise, and I spent the morning with Babiekins Magazine’s digital editor and photographer, Elizabeth Pettey. Elizabeth got some killer shots of Elise’s favorite summer outfits at some cool spots in East Hampton/Amagansett/Montauk. The outfits are a mix of textiles and colors and are light and comfortable for the summer.

All of these cool, beautiful and one-of-a-kind goodies are from unique boutiques from a mix of different cultures. These handmade goodies are all ethically sourced and each item plays a part in helping to serve a larger purpose by helping to fund several humanitarian initiatves: provide women in Malawi, Africa and Guatemala with business opportunities and honorable incomes; help care for orphans in Makindu, Kenya; help feed malnourished children and provide literacy classes for women. Fashion with human impact is important in todays world of mass commercialism, and who doesn’t love goodies that are uniquely artisan made, respect fair trade and are globally philanthropic. Being able to make an impact and look cute as a result is pretty amazing and this round-up of goodies for your babiekins is just that!

Copyright © 2022 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
