Fashionkins // A Print Love Affair

By Zacha Carpenter, Contributor 1 Comment

Mixing prints can sometimes be a little daunting. I remember thinking just a few years ago, “Stripes and polka dots–yeah right?” But the more you play with the idea and start pairing pieces together, you realize it’s quite like a love affair. There’s something so romantic behind the idea of opposite prints coming together and creating a unified look. When mixing prints, I am always drawn first to the color palette. Once I find a synchronization, I allow the magic to happen between the clashing prints. So in honor of love month, let yourself fall in love with the idea of mixing prints for your littles.Babiekins Magazine | Mixing PrintsBabiekins Magazine | Mixing PrintsBabiekins Magazine| Mixing PrintsBabiekins Magazine | Mixing PrintsBabiekins Magazine | Mixing PrintsBabiekins Magazine | Mixing Prints

By Gina Munsey, Senior Editor 1 Comment

We’re thrilled to announce a new contributor to the Babiekins blog, Brittany Ritchie! Her Instagram account @BrittRitch is full of exuberance and life with her two little BOYS, and we’re truly inspired by her sense of style and overall aesthetic. -The Editors

Brittany Ritchie, Style Blogger for Babiekins Magazine

Hi! I’m Brittany, mom of two wild little men Crew (6) and Cash (4), living the glam country life in North Carolina. We are always drawing or playing dress up, and we are all artists in this house so don’t tell us otherwise. We love fashion! I’m almost positive I inherited my fashion sense from my grandmother, my youngest memories of her were in rompers and floral heels to die for!

Around this house (our constant fashion week) we love to mix prints, and I want to share a few tips to help you achieve fun pattern+print looks with your own littles.

Don’t be scared or intimidated when mixing different prints, amazingly kids can pull off most anything with a little help. So experiment, experiment!

TOP FIVE TIPS FOR MIXING PRINTS AND PATTERNS

  1. Try stripes or polka dots with a print
  2. Using same fabrics can help; for example, cotton/cotton
  3. Having one print act as a neutral will ground the outfit
  4. By mixing different ways, you can create so many new outfits
  5. There are no rules…have fun with it!

Mixing prints is a total do for children, so say yes to mixing prints!

XO Britt Ritchie

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
