SPRING! Suddenly the energy in NYC has shifted. There’s a swing in everyones step, the birds are chirping, and families are dining outdoors on the cutest restaurant patios. Every year around this time, I get the itch to change things up in our home. Not just the mundane task of putting away and sorting through clothes, but I really enjoy making our living space more “Spring like” if you will. In the last few weeks, I’ve switched out rugs, tables, plants, and even art work. These small, yet big, changes have made such a difference in the brightness of our home and I am so ready for the warm weather!
I wanted to share a few of my very favorite changes and items from our living room. From the moment I laid eyes on our new coffee table from Bryght I was in love. A few of my requirements when searching for a table was that it was round (no sharp edges for bumps and cruising babies), a mid century feel, and DURABLE. Lucas is hard on our furniture and I have no doubts Lillie will follow suit. Eek – is it normal to have a crush on a table?! Another thing I was on the search for was good looking storage. Our floor pillow from Joy Bound is a work horse. It can be used as extra seating for play dates and it stores all of our winter blankets. Genius! Plus it’s so pretty 😉 Previously we had a huge 9×11 rug in the living room and while I loved it, I was itching for something more feminine as well as smaller to showcase our floors. I love Little Rug Shop for it’s gorgeous selection and incredible prices. I chose this rug – it has a delicate pattern but it hides all of my little ones messes.
Ok. Now accessories! Give me all the baskets!!! A mom’s best friend, truly. Every evening I just dump everything into the assorted baskets in the room and voila! Instant clean up. My favorites are from Pehr. They have every design you can imagine and look good in every room in the house. I also have a ton of thrifted wicker baskets strewn about. Our new Frida print is from Lady Noel Designs and adds just the right amount of vibrant color to the room. She’s looking very Spring, don’t you think?! And the final touch is our sweet, dainty dream catcher and mud cloth on the couch (we previously had thick winter knit blankets that suddenly felt very heavy). Also, plants, plants, more plants, and flowers. You can never go wrong and I feel as though they instantly liven up any space.
