I had so much fun dressing little miss Isla up in some outfits that I think are so sweet for the summer. For the first look, I paired two soft cotton pieces together, a wrap top and a maxi skirt. For the top, I chose a color that coordinated with the print on the skirt but didn’t match exactly. Both materials were a luxuriously soft and gauzy cotton. I added a silk floral scarf for interest at the neckline since the wrap top has a v- style cut. My friend and photographer (and Isla’s mommy) glued a Frida patch onto a visor and I think this really gave the outfit a punch of fun. I chose a wooden clog with bright laces which coordinated with the color of the visor. This was actually an on set decision. Sometimes you plan every detail of an outfit, and sometimes things just come together on set.
For the second look, which I think is a great brunch or dinner look, I paired a heavy pinafore with a light silk blouse. To make what could be a formal outfit a little quirkier, I mixed a floral print with a monochrome lightening bolt and bird print. A geometric headband pulls color from the silk shirt. A large bowling style bag picks up on the monochrome and bird print from the pinafore. Suede teal shoes and striped mustard crew socks balance the colors found in the shirt.
Isla’s mommy picked out an adorable bikini and I paired with a simple skirt that accented the colors found in the bikini. An adorable straw hat added to the tropical vibe. Isla’s mommy also brought the funky gold chain and the stuffed animal (donkey?), which totally added a whimsical touch.
Have fun when styling summer outfits. Mix patterns, brands, and textures.
