Fashionkins // Riley

By Elizabeth Pettey, Digital Photo Editor Leave a Comment

Babiekins’ photo editor, Elizabeth Pettey, had the pleasure of meeting mini-fashionista, Riley (the Creative Director and necklace-maker extraordinaire behind LITTLE LUX), at our current print issue’s “Scribbles” shoot. Riley was in NYC for “business and fun” so between her trips to the M&M’s store in Times Square to stock up on treats and making necklaces at Barney’s annual Artisan Day, Riley and Elizabeth met up in Washington Square Park to snap and chat.Elizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUXElizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUXElizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUXElizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUXElizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUXElizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUXElizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUXElizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUXElizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUXElizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUXElizabeth Pettey Photography for Babiekins Blog: Fashionkins// Riley of LITTLE LUX

Momkins // Dewy Walks To School

By Donna Tweedale, Former Contributor Leave a Comment

School mornings can be a race against the clock to get out on time. I try to organise the kids out the door 5 minutes earlier than we really need to, allowing enough time to stroll. Walking hand in hand take in the Autumn days dewy beginnings. Taking time to stop and let the snails pass, count the cobwebs draped between the fences, kick the piles of crisp leaves.

I’ll be sure to have a large tote bag to throw everything the kids need for their day so my hands are free to hold theirs and we’re ready to go. Hats are becoming my school run go to, they can lift any outfit and give you one less thing to have to worry about fixing up in the morning. Once I’m home I can add a matte red lip and this Mumma’s ready for the day ahead.

Momkins // Fall Florals

By Brittany Williams, Former Fashion Editor 2 Comments

Fall florals are among some of my favorite prints. Moody and jewel tones scream cooler temps, changing seasons, pumpkin patches, and cornfields! The perfect dresses to take you into autumn are those in a maxi length, billowy, and with a great floral print in fall colored hues. This one from Free People is a good transition piece from summer, because it has pockets and long sleeves, but the material is nice and light.   I love the dark color with creamy blooms and pops of olive. Fall dresses are killer with booties and a felt hat, and this one in a camel brown hue reminds me of caramel corn, yummmm. Hello autumn, we are so happy you are here!

Momkins // Easy Breezy

By Brittany Williams, Former Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

Nothing beats an evening on the Bay surrounded by family.  The breeze, the salty air, the sailboats as they cruise by; its all magical.  I like to wear simple sundresses that are light and feminine and perfect for dancing around the shoreline. A classic sundress is versatile enough to throw over a swimsuit and to take you into the night hours, which means less hassle and more time to play!   A Pizza picnic and a stroll through the palms and you have yourself the recipe for a wonderful Summer night.  Shouldn’t all Summer evenings be about the easy breezy and simple living with your Babiekins?!

Momkins // Floral and Turquoise

By Brittany Williams, Former Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

A  floral shift dress and Turquoise jewelry (or anything Turqouise) is my favorite Summer uniform.  Turquoise reminds me of all the tropical vacations that I dream about daily, and a good floral frock is always a must.  Pick bold and oversized floral patterns with a dark background so the colors pop.  This will make your  dress have a more modern vibe, and be less “borrowed from my grandma’s closet”.   I love pairing shorter dresses with neutral suede or leather booties or sandals to keep it grounded and not too girly.   Or! Even better, forget the shoes and go barefoot and dance away with your babiekins on the sand at the beach!  Summer is here, horray!

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
