Featurekins // MINIMUHUU

By Rachel Fox Kipphut, Contributor Leave a Comment

“Children are free spirits, nomadic in the sense that they move so lightly through life. When they nestle down to sleep I want them to be wrapped in a cocoon of softness, nature and love – with a whisper of adventure in the dreams to come.”  A closer look at MINIMUHUU  .

“Minimuhuu was created in 2015 with the intent of creating stylish, durable, high quality, organic bedding specifically for children.
Our products are inspired by cultural symbols and aim to capture the essence of nature.  Minimuhuu is located in a French bastide in the city of Aix-en-Provence, which is enchantingly known as the city of a thousand fountains. At Minimuhuu, we make duvet covers, cushions, and bags in soft, luxurious, pre-washed linen especially for children. We believe that safe, ecologically friendly materials are the best gifts for your child. MINIMUHUU is a  French atelier , producing the highest quality linens for babies and children.
Inspired by Native American culture and embellishments, the Minimuhuu collection features traditional emblems of protection, journeying and wonder, patience and strength.
Created by Spanish designer and stylist Monica Durban in Aix-en-Provence in southern France, Minimuhuu reflects Monica’s perfectionism, authenticity, passion for nature and joie-de-vivre. The Spring-Summer 2017 collection is inspired by Native American symbols and the expression of ideas through images. We have chosen two symbols this season: arrows and stars. Arrows are a popular symbol, denoting direction, protection, and travel. Our star pattern is styled after art created by Native Americans after witnessing the especially astounding Leonid meteor shower of 1883. On our products, stars are a symbol of magic and wonder. The SS17 color palette, from light grey to soft pink, is gentle and fresh, with timeless, elegant tones that fit into any child’s room. Minimuhuu offers both solid colors and fabrics printed with subtle copper stars or arrows. Mix and match to create your own style!” – Minimuhuu

Featurekins // Munchkin et Moi

We love MUNCHKIN et MOI  ( and the AMAZING MOM behind the Brand) !

P5-BBK

We just adore the handmade and timeless shoes from Munchkin et Moi . We love Munchkin et Moi EVEN MORE after getting to know the brand  and learning about the amazing woman behind the shop.

MEET NICOLA
The wonderful creator of Munchkin et Moi and Mom .
“A little information about me:
I’m Australian, and in Sydney (in what feels like a previous life), I worked as a Mechanical Design Drafter and Drawing Office Manager. My husband and I relocated to Switzerland for my husband’s job and I found myself unable to work. We were there for six years. While in Switzerland I had Munchkin, and I learned that raising a small child so far from your family/ village is doable, but it takes ALL of your time….”

“While living in Europe, I fell in love with the European aesthetic and the priority placed on quality over quantity. I’ve never had a large wardrobe as I’ve preferred to buy just a few of the best quality items I could afford and to replace them when they wore out.
I loved that in Europe, this same love of quality frequently translated into gorgeous fashions for children that were well made enough that I was able to pass on most of Munchkin’s wardrobe for her cousin to wear. I’ve seen photos of adorable outfits and shoes I purchased for Munchkin on three children now, and as far as I know, they’re still being passed along.
In mid-2015, my husband’s job moved us to the Bay Area, I was desperate to get back to some sort of regular work (my daughter had started pre-school). But any job needed to be flexible to allow for my daughters part time pre-school schedule, and our continued lack of family and village….. “

( Nicola’s daughter Sophie , is 4 years old.  She loves her Mom’s office and she seems to think that the Munchkin et Moi shop is her own private shoe store.  She especially loves doing quality control , checking each shoe before it goes out to the new owner.  She also is a fabulous shoe model. Keep up the great work Sophie!)

“About the same time, Munchkin and I were being repeatedly stopped in the street with people inquiring where I’d purchased Munchkin’s shoes. I realized I couldn’t find US stockists for most of them. Jokingly, I told my husband I should be handing out business cards given the number of inquiries I was getting. It was a “light bulb”moment. Very shortly thereafter (after quite a bit of research, and creating business plans etc), Munchkin et Moi, the web-boutique, was born. And I had flexible work that fit in perfectly with our lifestyle requirements.
It helps that I adore shoes and I thrive on a challenge  😉 “

Featurekins // House Of Jamie PARTY COLLECTION

By Rachel Fox Kipphut, Contributor Leave a Comment

BabieKins wishes House of Jamie a very Happy Anniversary!
Amsterdam, 2 October 2017 – It’s time to celebrate! House of Jamie turned five today! To highlight this special event, the label launches an exclusive limited party collection. The brand also takes this opportunity to introduce a renewed logo which perfectly fits the new look of the label: playful, sophisticated & rebellious. The whole month of October marks the 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. Let’s party!
Especially for the 5-YEAR ANNIVERSARY, House of Jamie launches three party items. The Blazer for boys in the colors Stone & Black and for girls a party musthave: the Tulle Oversized Dress in Powder Pink & Black. To complete this great collection the label launches the ‘Jamie Sweatshirt’, a logo sweater in kid’s sizes (0-8yr) and also for mommies in sizes S, M and L! The sweater will be available in colors Powder Pink, Stone & Black. A made-to-last item made from super soft Italian Fleece cotton.
In five years, House of Jamie has become an international label and this great achievement will not pass unnoticed. The whole month of October we will party with very nice giveaways and presents to celebrate the launch of the ‘party collection’. And the cherry on top: from 14-20 October there will be a unique House of Jamie pop-up shop in Amsterdam (location: Studio Sarphaat, Sarphatipark 116). During this week, the complete Apparel and Baby Essentials & Home Collections will be available, including the new AW17 apparel line, the Party collection and special priced items. You really don’t want to miss this party!
House of Jamie is growing up and with this development, a renewed & sophisticated logo will be introduced as a perfect fit to the label’s current branding. The signature bow tie, with which it all began five years ago, will no longer be part of the main logo. The bow tie will remain in the logo for all Baby Essentials & Home items. And this product line will continue as the ‘Bow Tie Heritage Collection’. In addition to the new logo, a little sister logo is added: HOJ. This logo will pop up on every item from the apparel collection and on the new embroidered Jamie Sweatshirt.

Copyright © 2021 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
