The deep blue blows my little Babiekins’ mind. We’ve watched ocean life documentaries open mouthed; In awe of this incredible world under the waves. So it will come as no surprise that one of our favourite bedtime reads is ”If You Want To See A Whale” by the New York Times bestseller writer of ”And Then It’s Spring” Julie Fogliano.
” If you want to see a whale you will need a not-so-comfy chair and a not-too-cozy blanket because sleeping eyes can’t watch for whales and whale’s won’t wait for watching.”
Erin. E. Stead’s delicate illustrations are beautifully composed. Leading you on a journey with a cute flame haired boy; his trusty basset hound and a tiny bird friend in tow trying to avoid daydreams and natures distractions to patiently wait…and wait…
Still, when we read this book together; Edie gasps when she sees the whale under the boat as if it was the first time. Adorable. This book is sure to be a big part of my Babiekins’ childhood memories of calm bedtimes.
