The Game Of Sculpture

By Donna Tweedale, Former Contributor Leave a Comment

A book doesn't always have to be determined by characters, words and illustrations. A book can be shapes, colours, textures limited only by your imagination. Hervè Tullet brings childrens books to life with their interactivity, where sitting with a book is taken to another level. 'Press Here' and 'Mix It Up' are both Babiekins Favourites.

Euan quickly bought into the concept of 'The Game Of Sculpture'. I stepped back and let him pop out all the pieces, he folded the pages to create his 'castle' and reached for other craft materials to add into the mix. It had grasped his imagination, and he ran with it.

I love the rich colours. The brush strokes on each section add texture and depth. The pieces pop out so easily and the book is so sturdy your little Babiekins can take their own lead. Look out for the giant version of this book, it would be great for smaller hands.

His masterpiece was on display for just a couple of days before he thought it would make a better rocky coastline with dragons living in caves. And so, he set to work.

FUNKINS :: Creative Play with Halloween

By Liz Jacob, Copy Editor 1 Comment

If your little ones are anything like mine, they are easily entertained. We love this time of year for so many reasons, but one of them most certainly is the creative play that comes out of Halloween costumes! These whimsical animal masks, or creepy as my husband says, are a great inexpensive prop for play. Usually, we run around our house acting like wild animals, but this year we took the silliness outside.

What are some of your favorite Halloween costumes?
Do they tend to linger around past the holiday season like ours?

Hope you find a little silliness this Halloween!

Copyright © 2022 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
