Sleepykins // A Modern Room for Play

By Leslie Schor, Senior Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

Guest post by Linda of Live Loud Girl.

These three little dwellers will spend quite some time together is the playroom. It will be the place where home work is made, books will be read and laughs will be shared. A vintage Eames chair with a basic Ikea table make a great study corner. Storage was key so the often used Ikea Besta cabinet was a no brainer. Yet the 3.60 meter custom made shelving, totally upgrades this piece of furniture and makes it look elegant over practical. A reading corner was created with the wooden playhouse and some shelving. Guaranteed hours of fun with this item. The Ane wall decor wallpaper and PLAY sign by Zoe Rumeau give the room the finishing touch.

Sleepykins // A Vibrant Shared Space

We were so happy that we could finally work with the amazing Rafa Kids bunk bed. This elegant, modern and light piece of furniture is great for smaller spaces. To mis match this eye-catcher, we went for a boho look Azilal berber on the by Rozen Kelim and some stunning vintage pieces like the green cabinet, the mini desk and a petit Thonet chair.
To compensate this circus of colors we chose a striking monochrome wall paper from Bien Fait. How fun is it to bring the jungle inside?!

Sleepykins//A Minty Sweet Nursery

This nursery has been such a joy to work on! We are in the process of adopting a baby boy who is due February 27th. He is our third child and the first baby to come home to our new house and forever home so designing his nursery has been a dream! I have been planning, prepping and collecting special pieces for months and months and am so excited to see it all coming together! His theme is woodland and I am loving the color scheme of the soft mints, yellows and grays. Since Foxes and bunnies are the two main animals I focused on in the room I couldn’t resist putting our sweet little bunny in a few of my favorite hats and crowns of his! The nursery is small but full of light, character and love. We can’t wait for our little darling to join us soon!

Sleepykins//Room for Adventure

Finding the perfect décor to suit a toddler can be tough. When the toddler is the youngest of five, it can sometimes seem as though there can’t possibly be anything out there that we haven’t already tried! Enter the glorious world of Instagram and Etsy, with their talented movers and makers who inspire novices and professionals and everyone in between with their gorgeous and unique wares.

With Rhys’ latest room makeover, I wanted to expand on our previous “wild” theme, and continue to embrace imagination and adventure while supporting small businesses. You see, Rhys is our loose cannon; our rule breaker. With his heart pinned firmly to his sleeve, he plays hard and he loves even harder.

We chose black, white and grey as our base colours for the furniture and walls in this space. The pops of colour are predominantly yellow and orange, creating a welcoming warmth and softening the monochrome decor.

Rhys’ art masterpieces are created at his little table and chairs. When he is done channelling Monet, we find him playing with his favourite toys at his house bookshelf. A soft and inviting floor cushion provides the perfect place to curl up with a book (and for jumping, of course). Stashed away under the crib are the discarded toys, hidden from view by the crib skirt but still easily accessible for little hands.

His room is toddler friendly, personal and warm. The Camera Shadow Box and the wall art can grow with him, and the shelf items changed to match his current interests. Rhys and one of his brothers, Sam, spend hours in here playing, hatching schemes and making mess – otherwise known as creating beautiful memories.

Sleepykins // Nursery Inspiration

When it comes to decorating a newborn’s room, the options are endless.  TiniTrader is one of my recommended places to buy or sell any new or preloved products for your baby, toddler or kids.  I was lucky enough to be a part of Tinitrader’s style series looks; creating and styling a unique nursery look from a selection of their products.  I captured some of the most amazing products, hoping to inspire one and all.

SLEEPYKINS :: A Rabbit Corner in Paris

By Gina Munsey, Senior Editor Leave a Comment

I love peeking into people’s homes, don’t you? Something about seeing how others create a sense of warmth and family through décor has a very universal appeal. And spaces created for little ones are especially inviting — and, no big surprise — a big favorite of ours here at Babiekins Magazine.

Helena, a French reader, sent us photos of the cozy grey and plum area she put together for her 3-month-old son, Yves.

She tells us, “We live in Paris – Montmartre in a little apartment as do many people here, so I could not create a ‘room’, just a baby corner. When I discovered the fabulous fabric with little rabbits I knew it was the perfect one for my little son, my little rabbit.”

We couldn’t agree more, Helena! What a terrific example of beautiful small-space living.

Copyright © 2021 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
