When I was asked to style 7-year-old Madden’s bedroom, I was so excited to create a space
that reflected this fun, loving, energetic and adventurous little boy.
I started by re-arranging the existing furniture to give this small bedroom balance. Next, I knew I
wanted the room to have mostly earth tones but with a pop of color to keep it light and bright. In
this case, the accent color was a bright yellow. The bedding was layered in dark blues and
grays to give the room a masculine feel.
During one of our shopping trips, my client and I found this awesome old trunk at our local
Goodwill store. We placed it at the foot of the bed and it doubles as extra storage and a solid
surface for play. We added many playful accessories (airplanes, arrows, plants) to appeal to
Madden’s adventurous side. Lastly, a soft rug and a blue textured pouf were added to soften all
the rustic wood elements. I love the way it turned out and I had so much fun styling this room for
such a cool kid.

Sleepykins // Master JJ’s Room

Babiekins Magazine | Master JJ's Space
J is for JJ.

JJ’s room is influenced by the current Scandinavian trends, a little monochrome madness and some of natures own – wood.   I love it when eclectic comes together!

His room brings a sense of calm, relaxation and peacefulness.  For me. themed rooms are really not my style; I love designing rooms which can grow with a child & keep them company for years to come.  Sometimes, you have to agree, less is more.

My favourite item in JJ”s room has to be his polaroid photo feature, hanging from a wood branch which I collected from the  park.

A few items I know and love: White J letter light from Little Letter Lights, Badger handmade felted organic wool rug from This Modern Life, Fine Little Day Gran cushion, Uashmama grey paper bag.

We have been in our new apartment for a little over a month now and there is still so much to do! However, I am loving Lucas’  new room thus far! I wanted him to have a space that was vibrant, fun and suited his colorful personality. While I am always thinking of new things that I want to add and switch around, here are a few shots of his space so far. I love it. Lucas loves it. Wins for all!

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
