Franca dances and does gymnastics weekly so we need leotards in our life. Lucky there are some fabulous ones out there and the biggest problem is picking which one to wear each week.
Fashionkins//Strawberry Fields Forever
Downunder summer is almost here and with that means strawberry season. As a lot of you picked your pumpkins this past month, we are out there picking our strawberries from local farms where they make it into real fruit ice cream. This is a tradition that we as a family look forward to each year and this one was super awesome with Bandit Kids new season full of Strawberry threads.
Clothing//Franca wears: Banditkids, Bella and lace, Cottonon Kids, Saltwatersandals. Ashton Wears: Mini Rodini, rockyourkid. Available through: Beaumondebabe.co.nz , coandmini.co.nz and kidrepublic.co.nz
Fashionkins//Dapper Dude
When I first found out a few years back that I was having a boy, I was interested to find out where could I find good quality affordable and on trend threads for Ashton. Girls are easy but theres not so much out there for the boys, or so I thought.
We are super lucky a family member has a children’s clothes designer here in NZ and has the most Fabulous brand Carbon Soldier that caters for a market like myself that like to dress their children in a little off left side designer brands. Carbon Soldier has broken into the European Market as well this season so that pretty exciting for us as we have worn and loved this brand since birth.
Teamed with a few goodies from our favourite online NZ children’s clothes shops we’ve discovered that are now bringing in the likes of Bobochoses and Mini Rodini Ashton is one Dapper Dude. We have also recently discovered another NZ shoe Brand Louis and Lola that are making beautifully hand crafted shoes and boots, a few that are unisex too.
I love dressing him up each day in outfits you don’t see around town too much and will do until that day when he just wants to dress like a All Black.
Travelkins//Winter at the Bach
Long lazy days away at our island retreat here in New Zealand really are special. We are very lucky to have a bach located on Kawau Island that has hosted four generations of my family and hopefully many more in the future. It accessible only by boat and with not a shop or cafe in sight. It defines getting away from it all.
Ashton and Franca get to run free and be kids, collecting sea glass on the beach outside the door, fishing off the whalf, bush walks and only a dull moment here if you choose it, and West our dog is never far from our feet. Summers are great fun with lots of boats in the bay and the return of our holiday neighbours. There is something magical about winter visits when it seems you are on a deserted island and the peace and serenity makes for a perfect way to recharge the batteries. Oh and few home made cupcakes always help.

Sleepykins//Ashton’s Mini Makeover
As Ashton gets older, I wanted to make a few small changes in his room to make it more suitable for his age and also to reflect his love for animals. It’s a small space, so I wanted to keep it bright and light without too much clutter. Most of the pieces come from small businesses that are local or over the ditch in Australia. I kept a black and yellow base with a few pops of colour.
I hope that it’s a space he can enjoy playing in with great storage to keep his extra special toys close at hand. Most that end up in bed with him at night time. A few key pieces I love are the OyOy Adventures Rug, MintRhopsody Attic house and the Mocka Storage cubes..

FASHIONKINS // Auckland Adventures
In our home town of Auckland here in New Zealand, winter has arrived so it’s all about layering the children at the moment. It was also Queen’s Birthday weekend here and a long weekend so are some fun activities happening around the city to celebrate. We went and explored the big smoke today and the winter sunshine came out to play.
We found a festival down at the Wharfs and visited our Maritime Museum for the first time, it was fun finding new places that the children loved right here on our front door, we were venturing inside and out so they were losing and gaining layers all day, and guess who has to carry them.
We love supporting small New Zealand online shops that talented Mums with children of their own have set up to be able to stay at home with their children so most of the kids clothing are brought from these smart Mums.
