Railway Adventures

Our family story is one worth telling and intentionally crafting!

We, as parents, cultivate a family culture every day through the decisions we make—How we respond to our children, what we expose them to, what we repeatedly strive to teach them, the attention we give them; and the opportunities we provide for them.

A huge piece of our family culture we strive towards has become getting out together and adventuring. We want our kids to grow up knowing that being in our home, with our family—is WONDERFUL. They will spend the rest of their adult lives living independently from us: Until they leave the house we want to cultivate cohesion together. The cohesion being a catalyst for rich discussion, precious memories, and a firm sense of belonging.

Sometimes our adventuring manifests itself simply: a new park or place to walk and explore. Other times we take advantage of unique local attractions, museums, and experiences. A handful of times a year we go on a trip someplace entirely new—Usually within driving distance.

This past weekend to celebrate our biggest fella’s 5th birthday adventure (a tradition from my family growing up over birthday parties), we traveled on the SAM shortline railway out of Americus, Georgia.

Our day trip took us to the hometown and boyhood farm of Jimmy Carter. We not only got to delightedly watch the rustic fall florals and fields pass rapidly from the train window, but got a hands on peak into important American history.

They learned and explored, my husband and I learned and explored, and we spent the day soaking up unplugged, rich time away as a family. The pictures provide but a glimpse of the treasured memories now tucked away in each of our hearts.

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
