Hello everybody! My name is Eric Pfleeger and I am a stay at home dad. I will be a regular guest blogger here so I just wanted to introduce myself briefly. I hope you all enjoy the post and I’ll see you again next week!
My stay at home dad skills were put to the test just recently while my wife was on a job in Asia for 3 1/2 weeks. Japan was the one place that she was able to shop and here are a few of the things she brought back. Pretty much everything is for our daughter’s lunches. They take their lunchtime pretty seriously over there. And from what my wife brought back, it seems everything is pretty dang cute. She found this amazing fabric that our daughter helped sew into napkins for school and then there are these foil papers that they wrap their sandwiches in that have happy faces all over them. One of my favorite items is an egg carrier with very minimal graphics to represent a chick. The egg sits perfectly inside with about an eighth of an inch space around it. Tomorrow begins the second week of kindergarten for our daughter and I am very excited to spruce up the lunch situation. That’s right, Japan brought back the fun in my lunch making, and hopefully my daughter’s lunch receiving. Today I am wrapping a sandwich in nifty foil paper with smiley faces and sticking little plastic letters in it that spell her name. Followed by cute little bunny boxes containing small steamed vegetables. The napkins are one of a kind hand sewn by her and her mommy and will be strawberry pattern this time. Next time they will have acorns. I might even throw in one of those plastic sushi grass things. I know…I’m out of control. This enthusiasm might even last through the week.
