It’s National Ice Cream Sandwich Day, so let’s take it up a notch with donuts! Summer is still in full swing (in some places), and we have one more month until most kids head back-to-school, so why not get a little wild with our ice cream sandwiches?! For all donut and ice cream lovers, this is definitely their lucky day!
To make your donut ice cream sandwich:
Using a serrated knife, slice your donuts in half, sort of like hamburger buns. Scoop out a heaping of ice cream and place on top of the bottom half of the donut. Place the top portion on top and lightly smash together, then enjoy!
Tip: If you want to serve your donuts all at the same time, scoop your ice cream onto a plate and put back in the freezer for a little bit of time. Then, take out and place in each of the donuts. You can also freeze the donut and the ice cream together, but it might lose a bit of the cake-like donut texture.
Easy peasy, right?! Now, go make your way to your local donut shop to pick up a dozen, then go pick up your favorite ice cream. Spend today making your babiekins some ice cream donut sandwiches, and call the neighborhood kids over, so you won’t be tempted to finish it all. Happy National Ice Cream Sandwich Day!
