Being a mother is such a wonderful gift and a big, yet rewarding responsibility. This year Mother’s day is extra special for me because it is my very first one with my sweet son in my arms. Last year around this time I had just found out that I was pregnant; it’s wild how fast time flies. I wanted to wear something that was unique and beautiful to signify this special day. I was also looking for something that is easy to nurse in, flattering and eye catching and I think this beautiful maxi dress from Raga fit the bill perfectly! It is thin and flowy and has that ‘just throw it on and go but still look totally chic’ look which, lets face it, is every moms dream right?! I love the vintage feel of this easy-going gauzy dress; it gets an A+ in my book!
Happy Mother’s Day to all you mamas out there!

Something about warmer weather just brings out the inner hippie in me. I love the way flowy tops, wide legged jeans and giant round sunglasses just convey that easy, breezy summertime feeling. I believe that bell bottoms are universally flattering and these super flares in white denim is undeniably fresh and just right for summer! This boxy blouse is one of my favorite pieces currently with its retro cut collar and relaxed fit. Of course, the only shoes that seemed right for this outfit were my trusty vintage inspired clogs and to polish it all off, some giant round sunglasses. 1970s boho mama!

I have been coming across a good few small, yet stunning and stylish up and coming labels, most of them I have stumbled across via instagram and all being from the land down under. I like to think I am a supporter of handmade, I also like to keep it local and give a little love to my fellow Australian’s who are working hard at creating beautiful and stylish garments for our littles. In saying that, I immediately fell in love with ALFIE. Children’s Apparel, proudly designed and handmade in Australia, ALFIE makes clothing and accessories for dapper kids with originality and style from 0-5 years. The line is influenced by the designer, Kobi Brown’s childhood spent dancing rock’n’roll and swing and her inspiration being her children, always.
Look out for ALFIE. I am excited to see more from this label! Snippets of the spring/summer 2014 collection shown above (all) will be available and back in stock mid February. Personally, I can’t wait for the Peggy Sue Blouse!
Find ALFIE. on instagram and show some love.

A while back Babiekins did a fun vintage-inspired Halloween editorial with our fashion editor Heather Rome and photographer Jessie Kenney. The setting was a historical house nestled in the town of Temecula, California. The clothes were all original vintage from Heather’s personal collection and some fun goodies from Loralee Lewis’s party collection! These images make us so excited for this fall season and Halloween which is right around the corner (how did time go by so fast?)! Do you have a party for Halloween? Do you go trick o’ treating? What will your babiekins be dressed up as this year?
I’ll be honest. The “Look, Jane, look!” dialogue of Dick and Jane really doesn’t do anything for me. Oh, I love vintage books, but I like the storylines to have a bit more punch and pizzazz. The illustrations, though, are truly classic!
This week, I was admiring the retro clothing in the illustrations and realized that much of it can be purchased from Olive Juice! Here are a few of my favorites, and how they match up to Dick, Jane, and Sally’s wardrobe.
1. Lyon Sweater Tee // 2. Jacqueline Cardigan // 3. Christopher Short // 4. Spring School Girl Dress // 5. Amelie Dress // 6. Bailey Shortall // 7. Claire Beret
