Sometimes as a Mom it is hard to find outfits for the whole family for special occasions. Dressy, but not super dressy!
I often ask myself, ” what are we dressing the kids in?” for an upcoming holiday or event. Easter has recently come and gone , and Mother and Father’s day fast approaches. I found the answer to my question while looking to pieces that are “timeless” in style. Classic designs from other eras and simpler times are making a comeback. Embroidered smock dresses became popular as early as the late 18th century and are still worn today. What better place to wear these outfits than at the 130th birthday celebration of Pullen Park here in downtown Raleigh. As I photographed the family, I felt as though I had lost track of time. These sweet outfits and this gorgeous old park, I really could imagine what this park may have been like in earlier years. A time when life was more simple.

Summer is just around the corner, Spring is in full bloom and we can already feel the excitement building. With that said we have decided to explore the prefect party outfit for your little ones that will take them right from Spring and all the way through Summer. Dressed in their finest outfits, these two are certainly party ready. With a mix of colours, prints and luxury fabrics these adorable outfits really will take you all the way to those warmer days. Something I love to do when dressing my two for an occasion is to have them matching or at least co-ordinating.
Jemima and I both fell in love with this gorgeous dress (if only I could get one in my size). This dress boasts an abundance of pink and gorgeous florals which is a must this season and perfect for any girly little ones. The cut is flattering and great for dancing the night away, as tested by Jemima herself!
For Bo’s bold and co-ordinating outfit we pulled together some colours from the dress and created a look using a pale blue tee and a pair of yellow trousers. This laid back smart look is perfect for Bo as he is constantly on the move with no sign of slowing down. I just can’t quite believe how grown up he looks!
I decided to change up the normal easter uniform for a modern, Harajuku inspired look this year. As much as I try to stray away from black and white I just can’t stop myself from incorporating that monochromatic look. It always brings in just enough cool to any outfit.

We are getting ready for Easter over here in North Carolina and we LOVE Carrot Cake here at the Kipphut House. Easter is a great time to make carrot cake!
You don’t have to make your carrot cake from scratch ( if you can, you’re amazing!) but you can also buy a mix. I found some really yummy mixes from Homegoods the store. They were so good that I went back to get more, but they were all sold out.
I used a heart-shape silicon bake wear left over from Valentine’s day ( why not? lol) &
Red & Yellow Food Coloring to make my White Cream Cheese Frosting …. ORANGE!
I then took green construction paper and folded it in half. On the side without the crease, I cut fringes on the paper for the “carrot stem”.
Then I took a knife and made a slit at the top of the “heart” and stuck in the green paper stalk.
