Fashionkins // Spring Florals

By Zacha Carpenter, Contributor Leave a Comment

In the coming weeks, as the sun stays out longer, we will start seeing spring flowers blooming everywhere. This time of year creates the most beautiful, vibrant color palettes in nature. So naturally everyone starts bringing color back into their wardrobes. This season, I have seen almost every single designer have florals or tropical print in their collections. The power colors taking center stage are lots of greens, blues and yellows. Florals are one of those prints that compliment well with many different pairings, such as, an all white ensemble or with pops of bright colors. They can also be very versatile, floral print outfits can be dressed up or down depending on how you style it. So have fun with this Spring trend and experiment, warmer weather is coming!Babiekins Magazine | Spring FloralsBabiekins Magazine | Spring FloralsBabiekins Magazine | Spring FloralsBabiekins Magazine | Spring FloralsBabiekins Magazine | Spring FloralsBabiekins Magazine | Spring Florals

Foxes, Cats, Owls… Beware… There is a new animal taking the fashion & decor world by tropical storm – Flamingos! Flamingos seem to be flocking everywhere: in decor, garlands, books, plush, apparel, and accessories; one thing is certain, the Flamingo is the new must-have animal for this upcoming spring and summer. With colors ranging from coral to hot pink, there is a flamingo option for every babiekin – to be honest, does any girl have enough pink in her life?

This past Sunday, while most Americans were watching the Super Bowl, my son and I watched the Puppy Bowl: for my three year-old the highlight of the show was the Kitty Half Time Show. Like my son, I love cats, and apparently so do designers. Talk about nine lives, cats have been making appearances on apparel, toys, and decor for several years now, and the trend doesn’t look like it is going away any time soon. With products as cute as these, I can see why cats are still hanging in there, they are the Cat’s Meow!

Featurekins // J. Crew X American Museum of Natural History

By Debbie Jovel, Contributor Leave a Comment

I am thrilled to share with you crewcuts latest t-shirt collaboration with the American Museum of Natural History! J. Crew was given special and never before allowed access to the New York institution’s archives for one-of-a-kind t-shirt designs that take your little scientist on a journey through the Akeley Hall of African Mammals, Hall of Saurischian Dinosaurs, Rose Center for Earth and Space, and Morgan Memorial Hall of Gems. These tees are so fun and engaging they just may inspire you and your little ones to explore the Museum yourself!

Jenny Cooper, crewcuts designer
“We were so excited to have special access to the American Museum of Natural History’s back rooms, archives and scholars to help us design the tees. Each tee was vetted by the respective experts in the Museum and we felt like we were learning as we went. It was an honor to be the first brand able to go through these historic archives for inspiration for the tees.”

Sharon Stulberg, Senior Director Business Development of the Museum
“We are very happy to announce this project and to bring this unique collection of children’s t-shirts to both J.Crew’s and the Museum’s young fans. Inspired by science and the Museum’s iconic halls and archives, the crewcuts design team created fun and engaging t-shirts highlighting images and facts from our library and our exhibits. The content and the images were reviewed by Museum curators. We hope that these great t-shirts will be a source of pride and inspiration for the young scientists who wear them.”

To celebrate the collaboration of crewcuts and The American Museum of Natural History, the Museum invited the crewcuts designers and their kids to the Upper West Side landmark for a special before-hours visit. On their must-see list: a giant blue whale, the super sparkly Hall of Gems, and T. rex…

Featurekins // Corby Tindersticks SS15

By Debbie Jovel, Contributor 3 Comments

For SS15 Corby Tindersticks is inspired by the bold works of Pilipo Giordano, Vincent Pianina and Kashink, plus more high brow things such as silly pets, bouncy balls with faces and gelato; it’s advised that you get your sun spectacles ready for punchy primary brights and popping pastels.

‘Stay Gold’ is full of surprises for SS15 but the biggest treat of all is the launch of the exclusive ‘Peter Pocosticks’ croc print mini-shoe designed in collaboration with shoemaker BFF’s (Best Footwear Friends) Poco Nido. Created for all the snappy little dressers out there – the mini shoe is perfect for learning how to moonwalk.

Other new products include ice cream and animal themed height charts, a very handy vegetable identifier, huggable soft toys, an interactive caterpillar reward chart, prints and pendant banners to inspire creativity in the home and beyond.

This ethically made collection of baby and children’s clothing, toys and home accessories is designed and (mostly) made in the UK with love and care. For all the underdogs, jigsaw champions and fuzzy felt addicts – this one is for you. Stay Gold.

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
