How beautiful is this black fish scale tile from Mercury Mosaics? I am completely obsessed with it and love how well it goes with the oversized magnolia flower wallpaper from Drop It Modern. When designing the rooms in the farmhouse I wanted to make sure that we made the rooms feel really modern. I want a mix of metals, modern lights with touches of old in there too.

This bathroom is right off a door that leads to a patio and will also be our “mudroom.” Since we are re doing the whole house we don’t have an official laundry room but I thought it would be cool to stick the washer and dryer under the stairs.

We still need to put molding around the half bathroom and this week we are adding this beautiful barn door (in black!) from  Artisan Hardware.

The light in the mudroom is from Bellacor and is called Loring Natural Brass Six-Light Chandelier . It’s the perfect modern light for the space!

Sleepykins // Leonardo’s Berlin Space

By Annelie Klein, Contributor Leave a Comment

We recently decided to renew our entire apartment. When it came to Leo’s room, we knew we had to maximize the space in an entertaining, organized and fancy manner. Since we have warm brown wood floors, we decided to go for a strong black and white contrast to give the room an everlasting fresh touch and also to maintain the color pattern of the rest of the apartment.

We felt in love with some accessories like the Fine Little Day wallpaper with the nice trees on it, because it was a good base and matches wonderfully. Next, we thought about an easy solution to organize all the toys. Luckily, we found the Ferm Living cotton baskets with their amazing look and wide storage place, also to make toys easy to access.

Of course, we didn’t want to miss adding some entertaining area. We loved the idea of a tepee which looks exciting and offers Leo a little extra playing space and privacy. Leo loves to read books in it…

Sleepykins // Isa's Cozy Room

By Leslie Schor, Senior Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

We are taking a look at Isa’s cozy room today. Isa’s mommy Sophia Smeekens, is the creative behind Studio Escargot and her room is filled with lots of dolls created by her mommy. Sophia feels that children’s rooms should be simple and comfortable. Also, she wants Isa’s room to be a place where she can relax and feel safe. In order to keep things eco-friendly, Sophia mixes new and second hand furniture.

Sleepykins // Style Tips With Love, Design

By Priscila Barros, Editor-in-Chief Leave a Comment

Hello Babekins Readers! My name is Jessica Klein, interior designer for With Love, Design and writer behind the blog Oh I Design. Although I do not have any little ones of my own running around yet, I have many clients that do and their rooms are my absolute favorite to decorate. I have gathered a few of my current favorite kids’ rooms along with some styling + design tips.

nursery

nursery

1. Go bold with pattern + color: Mixing patterns and lots of color is a must in my book for kids’ rooms. This is one room where you can really go all out and let your creativity run free. Color and pattern can be intimidating for most people in the more dominant rooms of their home, but a kids’ room is the perfect space to let your creativity run free!

2. Create a transitional space – you don’t always have to “theme” your kids’ room to fit their age (ie: a race car room for a boy). The photo above is for a little girl that could grow into the space for a few years (with minor alterations…because we all like to move things around a bit, right?).
nursery3. Specify areas of the room for various activities with furniture. Like the photo above, there is surface area for drawing and dressers for finding the perfect outfit for the day. Incorporate unique furniture pieces to conceal toys and tchotchkes. Too many toys and small decor items can make a room feel more cluttered than it actually is. Bonus: kids are more likely to put their things away if they have a home. You could event have them label the drawers or baskets to their liking.

Luvkins:: Little Burro Light

By Priscila Barros, Editor-in-Chief Leave a Comment

I am currently in love with the little “Burro.” Maybe it’s because I remember our four-legged, long-eared donkey that would look at us through his stall at my dad’s ranch growing up. He would often talk to my sister and I in his loud screeching “voice” and would make us giggle uncontrollably . We would imagine what he was saying as we passed and would often rub his forehead letting him know that he was a good little donkey. As I am about 16 weeks pregnant now and know that I will be having another little boy join our family (I already have 2 other cute boys) I am thinking about a theme, color scheme and all the amazing things I would like to put in his room. The donkey is on top of my list of animals…maybe it sounds strange for a little baby but it will all make sense once you all see it!

When I was looking for my “burro” themed room I cam across these amazing lamps by a company named Buo Kids. The company is from Valencia, Spain and makes some amazing looking lights. These would be fun in a kids’ room or playroom! Which is your favorite? The come in all shades of different colors!

Copyright © 2019 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
