One of my favorite holidays is Valentine’s Day because me and my babiekin love to make Valentine’s goodies for the students in his class. Here is a round-up of some of my favorite DIY Valentine’s that you and your babiekins can make together that are cool, fun and cute. Now I have to decide which one we will make this year.

Halloween is only a few weeks away and I have already started to mix-up items in my babiekins closet to make my son a cool bad guy costume for Halloween. My favorite Halloween costumes are a unique mix of fashion items and dress-up playful accessories. I love keeping Halloween simple by adding masks, wings or capes to a simple dress, striped tee or classic sweatshirt to create a costume as unique as your babiekin! If you have a newborn, I also love a simple wrap with ears for your babiekins’ costume because it is simply boo-tiful.

Instead of getting your babiekins a princess or super hero costume this Halloween, why don’t you try one of these cool and chic costume ideas. With a simple mask, a fun graphic t-shirt and wings or a cape your babiekins can quickly transform into a bat, zebra, wolf, badger or a raven. These cool costumes are perfect for your babiekins to spread their wings and fly at Halloween time, and they can be worn for imagination play all year around. Your babiekins will look Spooktacular this Halloween in one of these unique costumes!

Because my motto is ‘everything in moderation’, I like to fill my son’s Easter Basket with goodies besides the sugary sweet kind. Here are some extra sweet ideas for you to surprise your little Babiekin’s in their Easter Baskets: bunny masks, graphic onesies/tees, finger puppets, books, neon slingshots (watch out!), zoo temporary tattoos, lolly makers, and plush bunnies. I hope you enjoy this round-up of adorable goodies for your little one’s Easter Baskets that are sweet – but not in the usual sugary way…

This past Sunday, while most Americans were watching the Super Bowl, my son and I watched the Puppy Bowl: for my three year-old the highlight of the show was the Kitty Half Time Show. Like my son, I love cats, and apparently so do designers. Talk about nine lives, cats have been making appearances on apparel, toys, and decor for several years now, and the trend doesn’t look like it is going away any time soon. With products as cute as these, I can see why cats are still hanging in there, they are the Cat’s Meow!

FUNKINS :: Creative Play with Halloween

By Liz Jacob, Copy Editor 1 Comment

If your little ones are anything like mine, they are easily entertained. We love this time of year for so many reasons, but one of them most certainly is the creative play that comes out of Halloween costumes! These whimsical animal masks, or creepy as my husband says, are a great inexpensive prop for play. Usually, we run around our house acting like wild animals, but this year we took the silliness outside.

What are some of your favorite Halloween costumes?
Do they tend to linger around past the holiday season like ours?

Hope you find a little silliness this Halloween!

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
