I can hardly believe we are in the first week of 2016 and another year is already behind us – as is another Pantone color. Goodbye Marsala; hello Pantone’s color of the year 2016: Rose Quartz and Serenity! For the first time ever, Pantone’s color of the year is two colors – two soft tones that reflect connection, wellness and a sense of order and peace. I love the soft hues of pink and blue together for both boys and girls because they reflect gender equality and blur the softer more sensitive side of boys, with the stronger, more assertive side of girls. Rose Quartz and Serenity are both colors I am excited to introduce into my beautiful boys’ wardrobe and decor in 2016. Will you dress your babiekins in Rose Quartz and Serenity?

Every child's room should match the personality and style of the little babiekins who will be tucked away there each night. In this bedroom, as seen in print six, we turned to dreamy neutrals, hints of black and pops of pink to create a space fit for a sleeping beauty. We all know how easy it is to fall into the current trends, but how do you balance trends with a classic look and feel? We sought out to create a tailored bedroom fit for a toddler that could easily transition with her as she grew. The result? A dreamland of neutrals and soft tones, hints of European elegance, and a bold modern spirit.

Do you have an interior space to share? Email a brief description, 5-7 photos and your info to liz@babiekingmag.com for a chance to be featured here on our website.

Raising a tiny explorer means I am constantly seeking out new inspirations for her. She loves learning about animals and thirsts for picture books that she can use for her endless artworks. Animalium Curated by Katie Scott & Jenny Broom is the perfect book. Set up like a museum, Animalium explains how animals have evolved over time, shows little people inside the dissection laboratory and introduces animals from every corner of the earth.

In Piper’s words, “this book is filled with the prettiest and scariest animals and I like skates and I want to read this book forever.” Animalium kept her captivated and her little eyes widened as she studied the amazingly detailed illustrations and asked a million questions about each one! Each chapter in the book features a different branch from the tree of life, from reptiles to birds to mammals. Boys and girls alike will love this endlessly inspired find.

A book that can be read again and again, used for school projects, drawing stimulus and even as the perfect wall display on a shelf above their beds. The first of a series of “virtual museums” by the same creators. We have added it to her birthday need list.

I Love Love, therefore, I Love Valentine’s Day! I have been giving my husband ‘hints’ for my Valentine Gift all week, which also sent me on a search for a Valentine Gift for the Love of My Life – yes my son! My son fills our family’s lives with Love and Happiness everyday; and Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to remind him how Lucky we are to have him in our lives! Every Love is unique and special, especially Love between a parent and child, so I have pulled together some of my favorite Valentine Gifts for your child that say “I Love You” in their own unique way!

Luvkins // Baby, It’s Cold Outside

By Donna Tweedale, Former Contributor Leave a Comment

I’m rarely happier this winter than when the wood fire is raging, the popcorn is warm, pizza is ordered in and I’m snuggled in with the kids and ready to watch a film on a Friday night. We have an old trunk in our lounge full of blankets and throws to get cozy with. From blankets that have seen better days but hold treasured memories of babies first trips home from the hospital, to beautifully chunky knitted blankets saved for the snack free film nights!

I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites to inspire you and your little babiekins to snuggle down for film night these holidays.

Featurekins // Lucky Boy Sunday

By Debbie Jovel, Contributor Leave a Comment

Lucky Boy Sunday is happy to present a new season – “Winter 14”

Lucky Boy Sunday is introducing some new secret friends, “Bad Eye Lily”, “Uffie doll” and little “Mause doll”.
“Bad Eye Lilly” got some ink in her eye and it turned bad, “Uffie doll” sometimes has very scary dreams, “Mause doll” is overwhelmed by his own cuteness. They also have some great new pillow cases – “Lucky pillow case” in 3 different color combinations and a very nice “Nulle pillow case”

Lucky Boy Sunday is a brand of modern luxury knitted art toys and soft furnishings for the home, inspired by an artistic take on the world of children. The brand’s Danish designers, Camilla Koerschen and Camilla Ebdrup, are highly creative textile designers with backgrounds in fashion and art, who founded their studio in 2007.

Their work magically straddles the worlds of adults and children, the everyday and the unusual, bringing a poetic, artistic sensibility to both the living room and the children’s room.

All Lucky Boy Sunday’s knitted designs are manufactured in Bolivia, where alpaca have been bred for their precious wool for centuries. All items are knitted in cooperatives working under the fair trade principle, using only the highest grade wool, which is as valuable and as soft as cashmere. Their designs are made to both withstand the rigors of child’s play and look stunning in an adult’s environment.

Quality and function, originality and familiarity, poetry and playfulness are all in harmony in the work of this exceptional brand. Lucky Boy Sunday’s heirloom-quality designs have graced in many international magazines and are sold in luxury design shops and the hippest children’s concept stores from Copenhagen to Paris, Tokyo to New York, who are charmed by Camilla and Camilla’s unique, artistic take on the world.

Fashionkins // Jules in black and white

By Isabel Leave a Comment

It is no surprise when I tell you I like all things black and white. I tend to buy a lot in those colours for the kids too.

The other day Jules asked me if I would take his picture on the roofterrace. When you hear a proposal like that, you just can’t refuse. Although, I knew that he just wanted to do a shoot because he wanted candy afterwards. Yes, I am that kind of a mother. Not proud of it, but honest enough to admit that I ‘sometimes’ bribe my kids to pose for me.

So here comes Jules. In black and white.

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
