20+ Trendsetting Christmas Gift Ideas for Kids & Family

By Gina Munsey, Senior Editor Leave a Comment

All the stores can start to look the same this time of year, can’t they? Big-box stores all seem to stock a slightly different variation of the same items, and before long, you’re walking in circles, no closer to checking gifts off your Christmas list. But we can help. This year, I’ve hand-selected more than twenty different gift ideas for men, women, kids, and home — and Pri’s personalized guide will be coming soon, too.

[Whenever we publish a sponsored post, we’ll let you know with the hashtag #ad — like this. This simply means we were either compensated for our time in exchange for the post, or we were given complimentary products, but we were not required to write a positive review. As always, all opinions are the author’s own.]

Last-Minute Gift Ideas from the Babiekins Magazine Editors

I’m highlighting kids’ brands like Primary; after all, who doesn’t love soft cotton clothes without scratchy tags? I also share my favorites from Stella & Nash, a fun kids’ boutique with great looks, and look at Tea Collection’s freshest patterns, too. Voited’s unique pillow blankets keep you warm indoors — and outdoors! — during all your Yuletide adventures. Designer Caroline Z Hurley and the tastemakers at Moon Water Co bring fab pillows to refresh your spaces instantly, and the Parks Project clothing outfitter’s give-back program supports conservancy efforts at National Parks.

Delicate, luxurious, and earthy yet ethereal, the color palette throughout Flora and Henri’s Spring/Summer 2016 children’s collection reminds us of all the calm and idyllic moments throughout childhood. Gentle blush tones usher in the colors of daybreak (everyone with small children knows the colors of the sunrise!) while classic navy, pale stripes and grounded metallics bring the vintage era into modernity.

We especially love the most unique shade of patent salmon orange on the Frances shoes — the hue elevates the traditional Mary Jane, and adds a welcomed spunky twist to a classic. This sense of timelessness is extended throughout Flora and Henri’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection, with little details like offset buttons, fine-gauge knits, t-strap shoes, and tiny calico prints creating a wardrobe equally fit for a classic storybook as for a modern playdate.

Funkins // National Chocolate Chip Day

By Rachel Fox Kipphut, Contributor Leave a Comment

Babiekinsmag | Chocolate Chip Day
May 15th is National Chocolate Chip Day, the extra sweet to any treat. We decided to look past the obvious Chocolate Chip Cookie ( which has it’s own National Day as well) to celebrate Chocolate Chip Day. These tasty Morsels can be a great addition to Muffins, Ice Cream, Cookie Bars, Brownies , Granola Bars, Trail Mix, and our pick of the day, PANCAKES! We made mini chocolate chip pancakes, a fun and easy treat that you can make with even the rowdiest of toddlers. According to Elsie, mini pancakes are to be eaten all at once. She convinced me she could handle them all and wishes everyone a Happy National Chocolate Chip Day!

Fashionkins // Shades of Cool

By Zacha Carpenter, Contributor Leave a Comment

Researchers say that the color blue encourages us to think outside the box and be more creative. Luckily I have started a love affair with the color blue this year, especially after I laid eyes on these tights. But I think in general I have headed into a cooler tone color palette and have mixed in neutral shades to finish the look off. It’s easy on the eyes and super chic . So throw in a little blue in your outfit and let your cool creative juices flow as we dive into 2016!

Featurekins // Grass Stains Boutique

By Gina Munsey, Senior Editor Leave a Comment

FEATUREKINS // Grass Stains Boutique

In many places, this weekend marks the start of summer vacation, and no more school until fall. I remember that exhilarating “School’s out!” glee like it was yesterday, don’t you? For my friends and I, summer break was always full of so much exploration and imagination. Our bicycles became our chariots, and we spent the days alongside creek beds, in the shade of old orchards, making paths through the endless grasses of the prairie, and picnicking on the mossy carpet of a forest floor. All these places were transformed, and became our castles, our fortresses, our uncharted territory. The world was ours, and it was magical.

FEATUREKINS // Grass Stains Boutique

These perfectly summery images from one of our summer issue (print no. 6!) advertisers, Grass Stains Boutique, bring back so many memories of those carefree days — how we gathered sticks and twigs and gleaned bits of string and leather and wood from the workshop, and used these found objects to assemble little forts and fancy accessories and build an entire kingdom and become whoever in the world we wanted to be before the late, long shadows of midsummer sunset called us back inside.

Be sure to check out the Grass Stains website, and say hello on Instagram or Facebook!

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
