Somewhere over the rainbow

By Amy Carson Leave a Comment

Even down here in Texas, winters can turn gray, gloomy, and cold for long spells. Most of this February has passed beneath leaden skies, so when the sunshine finally came out we went to a nearby amusement park to enjoy the beautiful day.

However, without the rain there would never be rainbows.

Craftykins // July Fourth Garland

Babikeins Magazine // Craftykins Fourth of July
A few Christmases ago, we were with friends that always handmade all their own decorations. Together we ended up making a giant red, green and white paper chain that went around the entire room. From that moment on , I vowed to try and make holiday decor instead of purchasing them at a store . It cuts back on costs, storage space and is fun to make! Plus you have the added memories of making them. The Fourth of July in the US is upon us, and the girl’s and I came up with a super cute Red, White, and Blue Abstract Shape Garland. No need for perfect shapes, the fun is cutting out random squares and rectangles. A perfect project for your little ones. All you need is glue, string and construction paper. We also made a “crown” with some left over scraps that the girl’s took turns wearing. We enjoyed celebrating a little early in the girl’s room with our new super fun and colorful Independence Day decor! Happy Fourth of July!

Funkins // Tuscan Pizza Party (and Dinosaurs)

Babiekins Magazine | Tuscan Pizza Party
Here in North Carolina we have been getting a lot of rainy, very humid, grey days and I am NOT really a fan. Trying to keep the kids busy while inside, the girls and I celebrated National Pizza Party Day on Friday, May 15th. Although I am mostly Irish, my Grandmother’s Parents (on my Mom’s Side) came from Tuscany. I decided to do a Pizza Party with just a little Tuscan influence, featuring toddler friendly DIY Pizzas. Elsie’s dinosaurs also came and crashed the party.

To get our rainy day Pizza Party started, we visited our local Trader Joe’s Grocery store for everything we needed. My girl’s just like the old fashion cheese and pepperoni pizza, but this could be a fun way to explore other toppings with your kiddos. Mine just aren’t ready for that yet. While we waited for the Pizza’s to cook, we had a little chalkboard and dinosaur fun.

The girls really loved putting their pizzas together, but they loved eating them even better! Our rainy day turned bright with sunflowers, yummy DIY pizzas, lemonade, and dinosaurs. A Pizza Party is great way to stay busy with kids this summer ( including our diffrently-abled kiddos), rain or shine!

Funkins // Peanut Butter & Jelly Days

By Rachel Fox Kipphut, Contributor Leave a Comment

Peanut Butter and Jelly is favorite and go-to meal for most households, especially with little ones. April 2nd is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day and although it has has passed, any day can be a day to celebrate Peanut Butter & Jelly! Elsie and Sadie went head to head with their favorite, “the Peanut Butter” and “the Jelly”! And who doesn’t love Donuts? We decided to combined the two to celebrate PB&J Day with PB& J Donuts! All you need is Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits , Powdered Sugar and of course the PB&J . The easy instructions to make the biscuit donuts can be found on the Pillsbury’s website. I took the donuts, covered it in powdered sugar, sliced it in half and then added the PB&J. It was fun, it was messy, it tasted amazing , and it was a hit! Kid and adult approved, this treat is a great way to commemorate PB&J and spend some time outside in the warmer weather.

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
