Homekins // Kitchen Renovation Plan

By Priscila Barros, Editor-in-Chief Leave a Comment

Babiekins-Magazine-

I am so excited to finally be fixing / finishing our farmhouse kitchen. If you have followed us for a while you know that it has been a huge struggle and huge task to fix this house. You can see part of the story here.

Below is a before and some of the during and some of the progress.

We have decided to go with a sleek and modern take on the farmhouse kitchen. We will be using matte black cabinets from Ikea and do a pretty white concrete countertop from Z Counterform. We got black appliances (so sick of the stainless steel) and because it will be dark lower cabinets and appliances I think a pretty white concrete countertop would be PERFECT!

We will put white subway tile all the way up the wall and have a compost and a regular trashcan! Super excited about that!

Farmhouse Renovation // Before - Kitchen

Before – Darkest room ever. They had a weird room for their fireplace which was basically wasted space and this weird header into the living room. We opened it all up and decided we wanted to make this the kitchen. Our plan for the house is to have families and community over for farm dinners and a lot of ministry. So a big open and welcoming space is a must!

We added lots of windows to help create natural light and painted the walls white. No more dragon dungeon here!

We worked with Metrie who donated the shiplap to our project. We added shiplap in the living room, pantry, stairs and will add them some on the kitchen island!

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
