Fashionkins// Her Morning Elegance

By Elizabeth Pettey, Digital Photo Editor Leave a Comment

Shot in Bushwick, Brooklyn, this editorial is inspired by the quiet beauty of mornings. Bedhead, dress up, dollies, and of course the glorious morning light. These photos are best enjoyed while listening to Tenenbaum by The Paper Kites.

Direct from the runway, the Mavens in this debut collection, entitled “Blushed”, showcase signature styles including Liberty of London smocks, tulle collars and tutus, linen frocks, sequin locks, feathers and felt embellishments.

Maven Dolls is a ‘Doll House’ under the creative direction of Mother and Artisan Lee Talbot who designs and handcrafts the bespoke French-inspired Ragdolls. Known as Mavens, each beauty emulates current fashionable trends with her own unique style and a subtle nod to past traditions.

A guilty pleasure for mothers, like a true feature fashion piece, a Maven adorns a shelf in a child’s room or nursery with both grace and character. Each with a unique personality and delightfully demure face they are the piece ‘to build a room around’ and make the perfect keepsake for that special little someone in your life.

The debut collection, entitled “Blushed”, is available in-store now for a limited time, with new collection previews taking place regularly.

“We believe handmade goods are invaluable resources to incorporate into our daily lives while connecting us to each other in a personal way that cannot be compared to mass-produced and factory-made products, Handmade products are more than just a product. There is love, care, creativity and uniqueness, because handmade items are what your Great Great Grandma used to buy.” – Snuggly Ugly

Snuggly Ugly  was started by a fantastic (and sweet) American/ Venezuelan husband and wife team back in 2012. Known for their beautiful one-of-a-kind handmade plushes, they have now added some fantastic metallic linen mobiles and pillows that we just can’t get enough of! We also love these rag dolls and wooden doll racks that would make a perfect gift combo!  What is your favorite item from Snuggly Ugly?

The Voyagers

The Voyagers

You have probably seen the amazing work of  illustrator Maia Larkin who has contributed to the fashion industry  for many years. Her illustrations have been featured on brands like  Anaïs & I, Mini & Maximus, Le Vestiaire de Jeanne, Loup Charmant, Suvi Ainoa, along with numerous print and online publications. But did you know that she makes softies (dolls)? Above is a picture of her beautiful daughter holding “Hannah the little mermaid.” All the softies are 100% cotton and stuffed with soft, eco-friendly bamboo and/or corn fiber, along with a handful of organic dried lavender to give them a soothing scent. To add to the charm of each softie Maia also tea-dyes the fabric and hand paints the dolls! What a beautiful gift to give to the little one in your life that will be something they will hold onto and could even pass on to their children.

Markin Larkin is the lovely and talented lady behind the shop The Voyagers and in it you can find original illustrations, prints, children’s decor, softies, and jointed art dolls.

The above pictures are some of our favorite illustrations that you can purchase over at The Voyagers Shop!

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
