Fashionkins//From Bo to Bowie

By Leslie Schor, Senior Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

Guest post by Emily Byrom.

In honour of one of the most influential artists and fashion icons of all time, we pay tribute to the legend that is David Bowie.

Hunter Boaz Byrom or ‘Bo’ for short, plays the part of a fashion-forward-orange-haired mini Bowie. With his bright orange chalked hair and his handmade leather eyepatch – Bo recreates a Bowie look that dates right back to 1974. If only the little guy knew!

Bo’s outfit was inspired by a monochrome piece worn by Bowie in the 70’s. The tuxedo jacket by Jeremy Scott for Adidas features zebra print and a faux fur trim around the hood. Next is Bo’s t-shirt from Bearsley and Bumski showcasing a Bowie portrait with the words ‘Babe with the Power’ from arguably one of his/the best films ever, The Labyrinth. The wand… well that was just Bo being Bo.

Zebra look leggings from Mainio Clothing continue the little rockstar look and add a bit more Bowie flamboyance to the outfit. A pair of Akid black doodle boots from The Mini Edit complete the look.

I’ll admit I don’t really know tons about Bowie, not compared to one of my besties @i_am_heather1. She is a super fan. To me, Bowie is a fashion icon. He inspires us to be different, to break away from the mould, and to be who we want to be. This is why we have created this tribute, not for me but for my dear friend in Sydney. This is for you Heather! My he rest in peace and continue to empower generations to come. Legends don’t die.

Copyright © 2022 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
