The Word On The Street | Cool Boys Threads

By Sammy Eng, Contributor Leave a Comment

Awkward hellos at the door.
The feeling of we don’t fit in.
Uneasy banter in the corridor.
The times we feel we need approval.
Stop. Why?
The word on the street.
Honesty is cool. Kindness is cool.
Helping those who need it most is cool.
Being YOU is cool.

Sharing our love for urban boys fashion on Melbourne streetscape.
Fashion ready for school or weekend hangs.
Being you is cool.
And it’s even more cool to share the threads with your little sis!

This Spring/Summer my favorite fashion trends are the classic staples that are the foundations of our wardrobes: trench coats, shorts and denim– all updated with new washes and embellishments. Here is a round-up of some of my favorite denim fashions in children’s wear that include a chambray playsuit, a classic chambray pinafore, a denim waist bag, an embroidered denim dress, embroidered denim shorts, embroidered chambray bloomers, chambray hi-top sneakers and a skull embroidered denim shirt. With any of these goodies your babiekins won’t get the blues this spring – well… not the sad blues, but they will look cool in blue in the denim days ahead!

Inspired by David A. Carter’s pop up book, this editorial transports us to a vibrant realm filled with fun shapes. The styling is stellar and we are loving the primary hues.

Featurekins // The Tales We Tell Ourselves

By Leslie Schor, Senior Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

AP Wilding Photography shares the inspiration for the shoot:

“There is a quote by American author Megan McCafferty which says: ‘The tales we tell ourselves about ourselves makes us who we are.’

Fashion will always be a way of role-playing and escape into fantasy. As children we felt more free to get into character and play with the different versions of ourselves we would one day grow up to be. The characters we played affect the adults we become in a direct or indirect way.

This fashion story is a celebration of the moment of seemingly innocent play and rite of passage which shapes every woman.”

Featurekins // Color Shape

While we tend to associate spring fashion with ruffles, florals, and pastels, simple looks are really dominating the current season. Gingham is back, but paired with modern styles. Grid patterns, simple silhouettes, and light weight knits are a fresh alternative to traditional frilly spring fashion.  And we are loving the mix of primary colors and earth tones.

Copyright © 2021 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
