Featurekins // J. Crew X American Museum of Natural History

By Debbie Jovel, Contributor Leave a Comment

I am thrilled to share with you crewcuts latest t-shirt collaboration with the American Museum of Natural History! J. Crew was given special and never before allowed access to the New York institution’s archives for one-of-a-kind t-shirt designs that take your little scientist on a journey through the Akeley Hall of African Mammals, Hall of Saurischian Dinosaurs, Rose Center for Earth and Space, and Morgan Memorial Hall of Gems. These tees are so fun and engaging they just may inspire you and your little ones to explore the Museum yourself!

Jenny Cooper, crewcuts designer
“We were so excited to have special access to the American Museum of Natural History’s back rooms, archives and scholars to help us design the tees. Each tee was vetted by the respective experts in the Museum and we felt like we were learning as we went. It was an honor to be the first brand able to go through these historic archives for inspiration for the tees.”

Sharon Stulberg, Senior Director Business Development of the Museum
“We are very happy to announce this project and to bring this unique collection of children’s t-shirts to both J.Crew’s and the Museum’s young fans. Inspired by science and the Museum’s iconic halls and archives, the crewcuts design team created fun and engaging t-shirts highlighting images and facts from our library and our exhibits. The content and the images were reviewed by Museum curators. We hope that these great t-shirts will be a source of pride and inspiration for the young scientists who wear them.”

To celebrate the collaboration of crewcuts and The American Museum of Natural History, the Museum invited the crewcuts designers and their kids to the Upper West Side landmark for a special before-hours visit. On their must-see list: a giant blue whale, the super sparkly Hall of Gems, and T. rex…

Travelkins // This is San Francisco

By Debbie Jovel, Contributor Leave a Comment

Our family will be moving from San Francisco to Germany soon, and since my son loves books, I decided to get him This is San Francisco by Miroslav Sasek, the Czech artist, illustrator and author of the wonderful ‘This is’ series of Children’s Books. I thought it would be fun for us to read the charming book together and explore all of the places in the book that capture his interest and imagination before moving.

So… Last weekend I packed my favorite Je t’aime tote (in my opinion, a perfect Valentine’s Day gift) with my son’s This is San Francisco book, his Fisher Price camera and several layers of clothes (for San Francisco’s microclimates): we rode a San Francisco Cable Car; saw the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge from the San Francisco Ferry Building; enjoyed views of the Golden Gate Bridge (the pride of the city) and the fleet of boats at Fisherman’s Wharf; explored the grounds around the Palace of Fine Arts; drove down Lombard Street – the World’s Crookedest; and, finally ended our day eating my son’s favorite food, french fries, at one of our favorite diners.

We are moving soon, but one thing is certain… We will be leaving our Hearts in San Francisco!

I have a son, and I am always on the lookout for cool boys clothes; so it is no wonder that I love Mini & Maximus. Mini & Maximus is inspired by kids – their curiosity, impulsiveness, whimsy, creative spirit, imagination, humor, and awe of the world around them. Kids are original, courageous, and exuberant; and so is Mini & Maximus. Mini & Maximus cares about kids, cares about the planet, cares about originality, and they also have the coolest t-shirts. Each season, in addition to creating their own unique designs, Mini & Maximus collaborates with artists both young and old who inspire them. Are you or your little ones artists? Mini & Maximus wants the cool scribbles and drawings from your wonderful children because they are always looking for cool artwork to print on their products. So, if you think or know that you can draw, you can submit your art and who knows… It just may end up in their line.

For kids and the kid in all of us, there is Mini & Maximus!

Flora and Henri is the ultimate in classic, timeless children’s wear. From their knits to their beautiful outerwear, Lucas has been sporting Flora and Henri since he was in infant – his first piece a beautiful silver winter jacket. One of my favorite Fall/Winter outfits, this combo is the perfect amount of classic and play. Also, they hit the nail right on the fashion head with their Madrid pants (Pantone’s color of the year – Marsala!). See the entire collection here for both boys and girls.

Lucas has a new love: Miffy! Mama has a new love as well: The Front Shop. This beautiful online shop is so beautifully curated and has everything you (and your kiddos) could ever desire! Lucas can’t get enough of his Miffy Lamp. The design is just beautiful and it’s on a dimmer which allows me to adjust the light for nap-time and bedtime. Miffy also makes the most adorable buddy 😉 For holiday gifts check out the selection for both boys and girls – you’ll cross all the kiddos off your list in no time! Happy shopping, fa la la la la, and all that jazz!

So I’ve found the perfect poncho for the kiddos. No, seriously. It’s amazing! Thank you My Mila for designing what is now the perfect winter top for Lucas’s wardrobe. The fit and slouch are perfect for layering or wearing on its own and paired with pants that are appropriately named the ‘Lazy Harems‘ (they seem so comfy and I want a pair in my size immediately!) you have a sweet, sweet combo.

Copyright © 2021 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
