Fashionkins // Getting Ready for School

School starts next week! We are prepping supplies and of course, outfits. These are a few of my favorite looks that Lucas will be wearing to school. What I love is that all these pieces can be mixed and matched (and still look great!) which is crucial when we are trying to rush out the house in the morning. And can we talk about that jacket? It's giving me all the happy feelings for brisk and beautiful chilly days. Happy September everyone!

Fashionkins // Easter Style: The Quirky Remix

By Leslie Schor, Senior Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

Guest post by Jill Rothstein & Josh Rothstein.

A huge trend happening right now are matching tops and bottoms. This cheerful floral top and matching pants by Aristocrats Kids makes for the perfect springtime outfit. Oxford shoes by H&M keep it cool and comfortable. Samantha needed some more sparkle. These Dolly by Petit Tom lavender shorts with a huge gold bow were perfect with this Miguel Vieira Junior boy inspired button down. There is still a slight nip in the air in spring, so these Dolly pearl embellished knee high socks will keep her legs warm. Now, let’s talk about Zachariah’s suit. Mr. Uky designed this hounds tooth, 70’s inspired red and black vest and matching wide leg pant. Super on trend this season and beyond adorable.

Samantha’s Tutu du Monde pink tulle skirt and Little Miss Galia top with bows down the back begged for Anais and I pink sparkly shoes and a mini pink top hat. For the boys, this short suit by Appaman with this 1970’s inspired Mr. Uky button down and a pair of palm tree printed sneakers by Zara are cute and sophisticated.

The gorgeous Mischka Aoki dress worn by Lola, is the epitome of a high fashion spring dress. Its bright yellow color, floral print and layers of tulle have us all dreaming of family portraits on the lawn and parties with friends and family.

Lola’s Aristocrat Kids nature print dress is perfect for the holidays this spring. And a bunny eared-veiled-headband by Milk N Soda? Yes, please! The look is finished off with her black buckled patent leather bluchers from Zara. Samantha couldn’t be cuter in this Anais and I baby blue tulle dress accented with a pop of color in the red beaded H&M Necklace and Tutu du Monde feather headpiece. Her boho Zara booties keep the dress cool and casual.

Overall, the trends for the spring holidays reflect everything we envision when we think “spring.” Florals, bright, happy colors and elements of nature. And of course, anything that makes our little one’s look fresh and fly!

Travelkins // This is San Francisco

By Debbie Jovel, Contributor Leave a Comment

Our family will be moving from San Francisco to Germany soon, and since my son loves books, I decided to get him This is San Francisco by Miroslav Sasek, the Czech artist, illustrator and author of the wonderful ‘This is’ series of Children’s Books. I thought it would be fun for us to read the charming book together and explore all of the places in the book that capture his interest and imagination before moving.

So… Last weekend I packed my favorite Je t’aime tote (in my opinion, a perfect Valentine’s Day gift) with my son’s This is San Francisco book, his Fisher Price camera and several layers of clothes (for San Francisco’s microclimates): we rode a San Francisco Cable Car; saw the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge from the San Francisco Ferry Building; enjoyed views of the Golden Gate Bridge (the pride of the city) and the fleet of boats at Fisherman’s Wharf; explored the grounds around the Palace of Fine Arts; drove down Lombard Street – the World’s Crookedest; and, finally ended our day eating my son’s favorite food, french fries, at one of our favorite diners.

We are moving soon, but one thing is certain… We will be leaving our Hearts in San Francisco!

Pantone, the global authority on color, introduced the Color of the Year 2015 as Marsala (Pantone 18-1438). Although Marsala is somewhat of a controversial color choice for some — liking a color is a personal and subjective experience — I really like Marsala because it is equally as stylish on a girl or boy. Pantone describes the color as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls.” My opinion is that Marsala is a grounding, warm red-brown color that looks good on everything from apparel, to accessories, to shoes, and even for home decor. It is a seasonless color that can be worn as a grounded statement color on its own in the fall and winter, and as a strong accent to other lighter and brighter colors in the spring and summer. I think both me and my son need something Marsala in our wardrobes for 2015, so we can radiate with confidence — obviously.

Moody hues like dark plum, black and navy not only remind me of Picasso’s Blue Period, but these colors also summon the fall season. To find new fall fashions, I love LaDiDa, a curated collection of the entire world of kids’ fashion available online. From Paris to Brazil and beyond, LaDiDa has the best of the best from over one hundred different children’s clothing brands the world over. Here are some of my fall favorites for both boys and girls, from Ladida.com

Copyright © 2021 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
