I love Carters room that was featured in print issue four. I had no particular theme when I created this room. I just wanted to make sure it was fun, bright and quirky. I started with the color-neutral batman decals before adding bold hues and statements into the room to play off one another. Wall-to-wall neutrals are quickly becoming a thing of the past, so don’t be afraid to play with color! I  used two different types of sheets for this little one’s bed (one fitted sheet for each mattress stacked atop the other) which provides a fun and unexpected splash of color. Taking that a step further, I layered the rugs, adding depth and texture to the room.

Don’t forget to create a cozy little nook where your child can draw, write down his or her thoughts, or keep schoolwork organized!  For this room, I used clothespins I found at Crate and Barrel to make updating the display easy for little fingers. I also purchased sheet metal to cover the closet doors, generating a fun, magnetic board where more art can be displayed or magnetic cities can be built (the possibilities are only limited by your munchkin’s imagination!). Closet doors in a bedroom are pretty much an unavoidable eyesore that generally take up a large chunk of the space without generating interest, so we sought to breathe some fun into this long-overlooked bedroom staple by creating a colorful corner.

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
