With fall quickly approaching in less than a week we are trying to squeeze in our last little bit of summer with these beautiful images by German photographer, Beatrice Heydiri.
If you know me, you know two things I love are black and white photography and the beach so I instantly fell in love with this series of kids surfing in South Africa by Beatrice Heydiri. I love how she shot them as a total observer and captured these kids I asked her a couple of questions about these pictures because I just had to know more.
I just love these! So where were these pictures taken? :: These images were taken in Soth Africa, in a small surfing community where surfing is to the people what air is to everyone else. The place is Kommetije, on the West Coast halfway between Cape Town and Cape Point.
This wasn’t a planned shoot, right? These are all real surfer kids? What inspired you about these kids? :: Yes, this was not a planned shoot, these images are a reflection of a weekend on my local surf beach. These children come here every single day after school and spend their lives surfing. I think this incredible spirit of these small but very passionate people needed to be captured in it’s natural environment.
