Let’s talk leggings. Some people don’t like them for boys. I, for one, love them. They are fun to wear and easy to run and play around in. As I love to see my boy in leggings, I am always looking around for new ones. You can imagine how happy I was to have found PETITS COQUINS on Etsy.
Let’s hear it for Dominique!
Can you tell us how it all started?
When I was 20 i didn’t know what to study in college. Graphic design or fashion design? I decided to go with the first one. I’ve always loved handmade stuff. My desire for creativity has always been there, so i decided to start something. I started to make necklaces and accessories, but my interests has shifted to the baby apparel. I started with a giveaway in october 2013. I picked 5 kids to send my leggings to for free. They loved them so i decided to make a collection. Diamonds and cats. Minimalistic. Black and white; something you do not see every day.
How would you describe your brand?
I am always looking for new things. I’m an art director, I love playing with textures and graphics. I want my prints to look different, not too clean. I do everything myself. When someone orders a pair of leggings or a shirt I try to create a package just as I would like to receive it, adding some candy to please the little ones and give a touch of Switzerland to my customers who come from all over the world!
Where did the name Petits Coquins came from?
I’ve always liked the French names for baby clothes, so I decided to search for a name that would give a French touch to my brand. Decided on a name I created the logo, and I have become increasingly convinced that it was a perfect fit.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I am inspired by Nordic design and minimalism. I love black and white. And mint!
Do you have children? Which brand do you like the most for them?
I don’t have kids, but if I would have I think I would dress them in Petits Coquins, Bobo choses, and many others. I don’t think that I would just pick only a few brands, I like to mix many styles.
