I think felt is the fabric of choice when it comes to Halloween. I can remember many a last minute costume I put together growing up using plenty of felt…it comes in a rainbow of colors, it’s not expensive, there’s no hemming or sewing…it only needs some glue…so it makes fun projects fast. Just the way I like them.
So instead of using felt for costumes this time around, I made some festive party flags. And they’re just as easy as you’d think.
To make them you’ll need:
sheets of felt
scissors
hot glue
wooden skewers
glitter {if you’re into that kind of thing}
Start by cutting your felt into triangles. Mine are about 6 inches long and 4 inches wide.
Cut stripes, shapes, letters, or whatever else you want to embellish your flags with out of the remaining felt and glue it onto the flags. Trim any excess.
If you’re going to glitter, do it before those pieces are on the flags or you’ll end up glittering everything.
Cut two small slits in the top and bottom of the flags and slip the skewers through the holes. I added a dab of hot glue to the backs to keep them in place.
And of course this project doesn’t have to be only for Halloween…change up the colors for holidays, birthdays, the dishes being put away…any occasion that that could use a little extra festivity.
Who isn’t into glitter?? Thanks for the fun tutorial.
