Momkins // Live in Layers

By Brittany Williams, Former Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

Dwelling in the desert means living in layers during the winter months.  On some days, the weather likes to be comical and play games.   Seriously, it can be 34 degrees at night and then shoot up to 65 during the day.   Say what?   Obviously, layers become my best friend when it comes to dressing during these abnormal temperature ranges. Leggings and thermals are my go to, because I can use it as my base layer and go from there. Stick with neutral colors for the base in cozy knit materials. Then, play it up with mixed materials and patterns for added warmth and depth. For a casual day, I like to throw on a printed cardigan or a structured jacket. Tall boots and beanies are a good addition and keep my toes and head toasty for a morning out with my little ones.  Layer it up!

Momkins // Sandcastles vs Snowmen

By Brittany Williams, Former Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

I am one of those people that prefer sand instead of snow, even in December! Christmas at the Beach is some type of magic, when hardly a soul is there and I get to chase endless waves with my kids. The perfect thing to throw over your swimsuit when it is chillier than in the summer months, is a cozy, oversized cardigan. I love a good classic Black Swimsuit because it never goes out of style, and it is effortlessly chic. A pop of color added over the Black is a fun way to mix it up and added details like fringe make it even better. It’s like wearing a comfy blanket to the beach, without actually draping yourself in one. So instead of building snowmen, lets build sandcastles!

Momkins // Grey on Grey

By Brittany Williams, Former Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

Grey is not a typical color that most associate with happiness. For me however, it makes me smile because it is the perfect neutral base for any outfit. I find myself gravitating toward more grey than ever before. Pair this dull shade with black and it’s chic, brown and it’s earthy, navy and it has a cool vibe. I also love wearing different hues of grey at the same time for a more monochromatic look. A graphic tee that has a long and lean cut, paired with a shrunken motorcycle jacket in a different shades of grey, makes for a casual but fun outfit that I can wear running after my kids or running errands all over town. Navy corduroy flares add a different twist then typical denim, and boom! Nothing dull or moody about this ordinary color. Babiekins Magazine | Grey on Grey

Momkins // Less is More

By Brittany Williams, Former Fashion Editor Leave a Comment

Trends are always fun, but you cant beat classic and simple pieces. On days that I don’t feel like putting a ton of effort into my outfit, I just take it back to the basics. The philosophy of “less is more” is applicable to anyone’s style. Keeping it simple allows you to put minimal effort into your outfit while still looking polished. The power of great fitting denim and a good slouchy tee are underestimated, and both of these basics are a must in my wardrobe. Once I find a perfect fitting tee and jeans, I will wear it over and over again, until I deem it unacceptable to bore myself with the same outfit. No more “I have nothing to wear” complaining allowed. All you have to do is take it back to the simplest form of getting dressed; jeans and a good old t-shirt.

Copyright © 2023 · Babiekins Magazine | A Trendsetting Kids' Fashion Magazine and Online Community for Parents and Children Alike · Since the Southern California birth of Babiekins in 2010, the magazine has grown from into an internationally-recognized print publication with a global circulation and now a thriving online community. We are more than a kids’ fashion magazine. We search everywhere for inspiration, and go beyond trends to bring you fashion, style, decor, design, books, DIY, parties, and playthings. Our readers look to us to keep up with the best and most up-to-date concepts in the children’s market worldwide. We have an eye for quirk. We’re high-fashion, but we value whimsy over tradition. Playful childhood is more important to us than making kids into copycat adults. We believe life is beautiful, life is valuable, and life changes when you see it through the eyes of a child. We seek to transcend skin color, language and zip codes and bring out the real, wild, magical creativity inherent in every child. And behind Babiekins is an optimistic team of mothers-turned-editors, working from home, often with our own little babiekins climbing on, under and around the desks. We want to encourage you, and challenge you to see something different — something special — in yourself and in this world we all share. Welcome to Babiekins!
